Karen is the smiling voice that often answers when you call Playhouse Dental. She has taken on the role of “Team Leader” up front, otherwise known as “Mama Bear.” She was born in Mississippi but has lived in many different states over the past 18 years as a proud Navy wife. Two sons have followed their daddy into military service, and keeping tabs on the active teenager still at home keeps her hopping. “I love seeing children leave the office with a smile on their face.”
When not working, Karen enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family. While far from her roots, she has fallen in love with the scenic beauty of Whidbey Island.
Stacey is very excited to be part of the Playhouse Dental Team! She looks forward to greeting each of you at the front door and helping with your needs.
Stacey has lived in Anacortes for over 30 years and raised her two boys here. She loves Anacortes and is passionate about enjoying all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Her many years as a parent, nanny, and Assistant Director of a preschool give her great insight in
When not behind the Playhouse Dental front desk, you will find Stacey out in beautiful forests with her truffle dogs.
Melissa is our “go to” person for all questions relating to insurance and financial accounts. She brings a tenacious attention to detail and commitment to clear communication to this task. She has honed her skills at our front desk where she soaked up the energy and good vibes of the children that grace our practice. She comes to us after working for a Montessori school in Florida, and counts herself blessed to be raising her two children with her husband in his home-town of Anacortes.
When not at work, Melissa loves to watch her children play sports, exercise herself, cook, and hit the beach with friends, families and neighbors (one of them works here and recommended her!)
As our incredible restorative hygienist, Kate is a pro at making sure our patients are calm, cool, and happy when they’re in one of our chairs. She grew up in Anacortes, and began her dental career in 2000 as a dental assistant at Playhouse. She went on to complete her RDH degree in Dental Hygiene from Lake Washington Tech. Her attention to detail and commitment to excellence help us achieve great results… every time!
Kate loves spending time with her family, along with running, hiking and biking, cooking, crafts and watching LOTS of sports, especially those with her kids, their friends, and our patients!
Shantel is a Playhouse EFDA certified Dental Assistant and has been with us since 2003. You’ll find her assisting with, and often finishing up, fillings – all while adding a dose of humor to help our patients feel more at ease.
Shantel says that joking around with her kids “Makes my Day!” and she loves it when patients bring her a new joke. She also enjoys co-ed softball, fishing, camping, reading, and loves dancing in her kitchen.
Susan has been a Playhouse team member since 2006. Originally certified as a dental assistant in California, she has honed those skills into a fine craft. Being able to interact with the kids and their families, educate them on good oral hygiene, and teach important life-long skills are high on Susan’s list of why she loves her job.
When not at work, you’ll find Susan hanging out with her friends and family, rooting for the Seattle Sounders and Seahawks, and cooking or working in the garden.
This Oak Harbor native and young mother says, “Our kids are a joy to work with! They’re so fun to be around and I enjoy being able to teach them about healthy habits for healthy teeth.” Keoni has been with Playhouse Dental since 2009, first as a sterilizer and now as a dental assistant. She is also in charge of ordering every little thing we use, which has made her life more interesting with our second office in Anacortes.
Keoni has a passion for pottery and music, loves spending time at the beach, and being entertained by her 3 comical pugs.
Yesica comes from a large family that she describes as a “cast of characters” that LOVE to LAUGH! Clearly, she fits right in with the team at Playhouse Dental!
Equally at home in both Spanish and English, Yesica considers it an honor and privilege to help transform a typical dental visit into a great and memorable experience. She originally became a dental assistant after biting a “mean one” and deciding that she could do it better than that!
After her workday, Yesica loves to swim in Samish Lake, and frolic with her Siberian husky, Cocanee. This teddy bear of a dog is sweet, clumsy and goofy and makes her “person” smile every moment they are together.
Kelsey is a dental assistant who loves working with kids, because “Every day is something new!” She admires the creativity, honesty and resilience of children, and finds working with their families rewarding. Born and raised in Anacortes with two younger brothers and two sons, she “gets” the energy of boys, and revels in the differences found in their sisters.
In her down time, Kelsey is often at the beach with her boys, or camping and boating around the San Juan Islands with her family.
Aubrey hails from good ole South Carolina. She attended college at Virginia Commonwealth University where she majored in Biology with the intention of entering a helping profession. She moved to Oak Harbor in 2017 to be with her hubby who is stationed with the navy here. It was our lucky find that Aubrey was willing to take a dive into dentistry and she is a NATURAL!
Aubrey has a quick and contagious laugh that you can hear throughout the day, as she revels in the reality that everyday is different, since every kiddo is different. She finds that working with kids means daily adventures-often filled with perspectives that bring out her giggles!
Having friends and family across the country and in the Philippines gives her an opportunity to travel and explore new places and cuisines. At home, Aubrey has resisted the temptation to acquire pets and instead can be found buying and nurturing new plants to add to her collection.
Noelly was born in Seattle and raised in both Burlington and Oak Harbor areas. She comes from a very large family that owns two Mexican restaurants. (Her mother has 8 siblings).
Driven by curiosity to learn and strive for something bigger, Noelly works hard for everything that she has. She has taken her ability to sing, play piano and guitar and continue to give back via her involvement in her worship group. We can't wait for her to break out in song at work!
Noelly’s favorite thing about working with children is helping transform nervous children into fans of Playhouse Dental. Her highlight is seeing patients leave the office so excited that they are asking when they get to come back!
Outside of work, Noelly loves going to the beach or the dog park with her 3 dogs and her husband. When they can find a dog sitter, traveling and exploring different places is a favorite vacation. Noelly also enjoys reading new books, attending church services, and going to the drive-in.
Don’t let the gentle voice on the phone fool you, Itzel is a resilient and visionary young lady. She was born in Mexico and raised in Washington. She loves being able to communicate in both languages and connecting with families in different ways.
Itzel has always loved working with children. She finds that children have a way of touching your heart and it is very important for them to have adults to look up to who truly care about their well being. She has come to this awareness from being a student, an older sister, as well as a volunteer in classrooms-- tutoring and mentoring kids at different schools from elementary to high school.
Exploring possibilities of new places, meeting people and trying new cuisine are always high on Itzel’s afterwork options… In between she is working off her love of SNACKS, with time at the gym!
Lizette was born and raised in Anacortes and absolutely loves living in the Skagit Valley! She is the middle child of three in a Mexican American family and speaks Spanish at home and considers it a blessing to be able to communicate in both languages.
Lizette has always known that she wanted to work in the dental field ; she loved her early dental visits and was born with a bottom tooth... so maybe it was a sign!
There’s never a dull moment during the work day, and Lizette finds it's super exciting to be able to create relationships with both the child(ren) and with the parents. Children make her laugh with how they express themselves and look at the world.
At home, Lizette loves to sleep in when it’s possible, as well as spend time with her number one support team: her family! Shopping in person or online, serves as a great distraction when time/resources permit.
Tinerra has a quiet energy and a radiant smile. She grew up in Sedro Woolley, enjoying her regular dental checkups, and always knew she would love working at a dental office. She mentioned this to a co--worker while she was waiting tables at a gourmet pizza joint… who mentioned that our office was hiring…. Great waitresses make great Playhouse Team members!
Tinerra is a wonderful listener, who enjoys discovering what children have to share. She beams when they confide that “they don’t hate the dentist anymore.”
In her past, Tinerra has also excelled at softball, and has great stories to tell about it. She truly lives in comfy clothes… ALL the time! Especially when she is playing with her dog and exploring our incredible outdoor options.
Selena comes from a tight knit Mexican-American family in Oak Harbor. She has followed the strong work ethic of her mother and aunt and has quickly earned the respect of her team.
You will find Selena as part of our clinical team, interacting with the children to make them smile, laugh and have fun as well as help them enjoy their visit. Selena takes pride in ensuring that kids are learning how to take care of their teeth.
Outside of work Selena likes to cook, watch movies, go shopping, as well as spend time with family and friends.
Keana is an Athabaskan Alaskan native who left the far north 7 years ago with her dog. She now has two daughters and a really amazing man in her life.
Working in healthcare and interacting with patients has been very rewarding for Keana. Children always have fun things to talk about, and they always brighten up her day.
Keana is responsible for many of our whiteboard creations as she LOVES to draw, paint, and create both at work and at home. Otherwise you will find her reading fictional books, riding bikes with her family, or hanging out on the couch.
Madysen has had a “taste for dentistry” since she chomped on her dentist’s thumb as a small child! She grew up in Skagit Valley and has joined her sister who also works as a dental assistant.
Being able to teach children everyday about the importance of oral health and their ability to “take charge” of their smile brings her joy.
Outside of work you may find Maddy surrounded by her four dogs while hiking, or spending time with her family and friends.
