As the middle child of a 3-girl family, Michelle says being in the middle is where her patience comes from. Born and raised in Anacortes, she’s “a local” who now has 3 little ones of her own … which helps her feel right at home with our patients.
When she’s not coordinating the financial part of our office, Michelle likes spending time with her kids, exercising, working in her yard, and baking.
Karen is the smiling voice that often answers when you call Playhouse Dental. She has taken on the role of “Team Leader” up front, otherwise known as “Mama Bear.” She was born in Mississippi but has lived in many different states over the past 18 years as a proud Navy wife.
Karen is mom to three very active teenagers, which is why she feels right at home while at work. “I love seeing children leave the office with a smile their face.”
When not working, Karen enjoys watching her children play sports, which keeps her running. she enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family. While she is far from her roots, she has fallen in love with all of the scenic beauty of Whidbey Island.
Jeromey is the smiling face you see when you walk through the front door of Playhouse Dental in Oak Harbor. He loves to see the little ones smile, and know that we made a difference.
Jeromey moved here from San Luis Obispo, CA with his partner to raise their son, as well as chickens and goats. His passion for fixing anything that is broken is a blessing to all of us. His nickname is “Mr. Clean” because he makes sure that everything is fresh and sparking.
When Jeromey is at home, he loves to take on DIY projects and spend time with his family.
Stacey is very excited to be part of the Playhouse Dental Team! She looks forward to greeting each of you at the front door and helping with your needs.
Stacey has lived in Anacortes for over 30 years and raised her two boys here. She loves Anacortes and is passionate about enjoying all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Her many years as a parent, nanny, and Assistant Director of a preschool give her great insight in
When not behind the Playhouse Dental front desk, you will find Stacey out in beautiful forests with her truffle dogs.
Kate grew up in Anacortes, and began her dental career in 2000 as a dental assistant at Playhouse. She went on to become our restorative hygienist (RDH) by completing her AA from Skagit Valley College and her degree in Dental Hygiene from Lake Washington Tech. Growing up in a large family helped Kate learn how to interact with kids of all ages – and she’s a pro at making sure our patients are calm, cool, and happy when they’re in one of our chairs.
Kate loves spending time with her family, along with running, hiking and biking, cooking, crafts and watching LOTS of sports, especially those with her kids, their friends, and our patients!
Shantel is a Playhouse EFDA certified Dental Assistant and has been with us since 2003. You’ll find her assisting with, and often finishing up, fillings – all while adding a dose of humor to help our patients feel more at ease.
Shantel says that joking around with her kids “Makes my Day!” and she loves it when patients bring her a new joke. She also enjoys co-ed softball, fishing, camping, reading, and loves dancing in her kitchen.
Shantel is back after some extended Mommy-time with her family. We are enjoying the increased laughter that comes with her shenanigans!
Susan has been a Playhouse team member since 2006. Originally certified as a dental assistant in California, she has honed those skills into a fine craft. Being able to interact with the kids and their families, educate them on good oral hygiene, and teach important life-long skills are high on Susan’s list of why she loves her job.
When not at work, you’ll find Susan hanging out with her friends and family, rooting for the Seattle Sounders and Seahawks, and cooking or working in the garden.
This Oak Harbor native and young mother says, “Our kids are a joy to work with! They’re so fun to be around and I enjoy being able to teach them about healthy habits for healthy teeth.” Keoni has been with Playhouse Dental since 2009, first as a sterilizer and now as a dental assistant. She is also in charge of ordering every little thing we use, which has made her life more interesting with our second office in Anacortes.
Keoni has a passion for pottery and music, loves spending time at the beach, and being entertained by her 3 comical pugs.
Elizabeth came to us from the land of “adult dentistry.” She revels in the kids’ excitement in coming to see us. She also appreciates their honesty when asked about flossing, and their openness to new information. Very quickly, Elizabeth has become a key player on our clinical team.
Originally from Texas, Elizabeth and her husband Richard have moved many, many times with the military. While stationed in Japan, she attended dental assisting school. Now with 3 children and a Great Dane, they continue to seek adventure together, whether that be traveling, camping, or exploring the tide pools of local beaches.
Michelle was born and raised in the Skagit Valley. She always loved going to the dentist as a child. Her first job was as a barista and she was recruited from there to become a dental assistant in a pediatric dental practice. After 14 years with one practice, she is pleased to have found a new dental home with Playhouse Dental. She loves helping kids understand what is going on during their appointment and involving them in the process.
When not at work, you can find Michelle cooking up a storm for her husband and their two sons, relaxing on their fishing boat or being a party planner extraordinaire! She also has a soft spot for her two cats, Huey and Charlie.
When Sierra finished her training as a dental assistant, she was thrilled to be able to continue working with children after her experiences as a nanny, teaching at ECEAP, and being the oldest of five. Her favorite time of year is autumn, when she goes to the pumpkin patch as many times as possible!
When she’s not cleaning teeth or teaching kids how to take care of their own, you may find Sierra camping, fishing, or quading (ask her about it). On the inside, she has the curiosity and joy of a 10 year old.
Karina is from a loving family where she is the 3rd of four children, with LOTS of extended family in the area. This may be where she learned to joke around with kids, and help transform their fears of the dentist into a fun and successful experience. This is Karina’s second job working with children, and she is thrilled to be part our clinical team as a dental assistant.
In the evenings you may find Karina laughing and dancing the night away in local hot spots. Otherwise her off-work hours are filled with shopping, hanging with family, playing on the beach or traveling.
Yesica comes from a large family that she describes as a “cast of characters” that LOVE to LAUGH! Clearly, she fits right in with the team at Playhouse Dental!
Equally at home in both Spanish and English, Yesica considers it an honor and privilege to help transform a typical dental visit into a great and memorable experience. She originally became a dental assistant after biting a “mean one” and deciding that she could do it better than that!
After her workday, Yesica loves to swim in Samish Lake, and frolic with her Siberian husky, Cocanee. This teddy bear of a dog is sweet, clumsy and goofy and makes her “person” smile every moment they are together.
Janet is a dental assistant, born and raised in Washington. As the oldest of three siblings, she may be tiny but she knows how to get little ones to cooperate.
Janet loves the fact that each child is unique in his/her own way, and she works hard to ensure that they leave with a smile.
In her off time, Janet likes to go hiking and kayaking. Spending time with family and friends is also high on her list… especially when they lead to midnight (or sunrise) adventures!
Megan comes to us from the “far side”… she is blessed to have spent her entire life in Rockport, which is QUITE the commute!
You will find Megan in clinic, curious about everything the children share with her. She has a gift for bonding with them as she teaches them how to get and keep a healthy smile. If you hear laughter in clinic, you will often find Megan at the heart of the merrymaking.
In her “down-time”, Megan LOVES spending time with her family, and can often be found camping and kayaking. She thoroughly enjoys creating memories and traditions that will stand the test of time.
You will find Chelsea making sure that every instrument and surface is sparkling clean and organized! She finds great joy in expressing herself with CRAZY COLORED HAIR!
The Navy has taken her family around the country from California to Florida, Massachusetts, and Washington. The travel bug bit her and spirited her all the way to Maine for several years, but she is now back in Washington and settling in to pursue her passion of working with children.
When Chelsea isn’t at work, you might find her reading (her favorite is the Harry Potter series); you might also see her playing with her very soft bunny, named Foonee!
Can you say “home town girl”? Natalie is 2nd generation born-and-raised in Anacortes. She is from a family of 6 kids, which is the foundation of her perspective on children: Kids are goofy and imaginative. They have a great way of putting a smile on your face and making one feel good about “work as a way to give back to the community.”
Outside of work, Natalie spend lots of time with her extended family, often taking photos and enjoying all that that Pacific NW has to offer outdoors (camping, hiking, kayaking, etc.)
Frances is the quiet one in clinic with an ever-changing hairstyle! She was born on Orcas, and moved to LaConner in 2007. As a newcomer to Playhouse Dental, Frances enjoys the honesty and sweetness of children, and finds that they often make her laugh. She enjoys working with families to figure out how they can take better care of their children’s teeth.
In her off-work time, Frances may be found both indoors, with a book, video game or making art… or outdoors with one of her pets: a bunny (Cornelius), a guinea pig (Zeeza), her dog (Ne-yo), or the bees left over from her senior project!
Taryn is our new clinical team member who grew up in a small desert town in California with four sisters. She fits right in with our large team, as she embraces every interaction as an opportunity for friendship and laughter.
As a mother of 3 little ones, Taryn finds that children often teach us a great deal with their innocence and energy. They show us how to embrace what life hands us. You can often find Taryn and her kids hiking, playing at the beach, riding bikes or just running around. We count ourselves blessed to have her energy and attention to detail among us.
