As the middle child of a 3-girl family, Michelle says being in the middle is where her patience comes from. Born and raised in Anacortes, she coordinates the financial part of our office from home in Lynden with a blended family of 5 busy children… which gives her tremendous empathy for the parents she works with.
Fortunately for us, Michelle has an unbelievable attention to detail and need for order. When she’s not keeping up with her family’s busy schedule, you might find Michelle exercising, working in her yard, or baking something heavenly.
Karen is the smiling voice that often answers when you call Playhouse Dental. She has taken on the role of “Team Leader” up front, otherwise known as “Mama Bear.” She was born in Mississippi but has lived in many different states over the past 18 years as a proud Navy wife. Two sons have followed their daddy into military service, and keeping tabs on the active teenager still at home keeps her hopping. “I love seeing children leave the office with a smile on their face.”
When not working, Karen enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family. While far from her roots, she has fallen in love with the scenic beauty of Whidbey Island.
Jeromey is the smiling face you see when you walk through the front door of Playhouse Dental in Oak Harbor. He loves to see the little ones smile, and know that we made a difference.
Jeromey moved here from San Luis Obispo, CA with his partner to raise their son, as well as chickens and goats. His passion for fixing anything that is broken is a blessing to all of us. His nickname is “Mr. Clean” because he makes sure that everything is fresh and sparking.
When Jeromey is at home, he loves to take on DIY projects and spend time with his family.
Stacey is very excited to be part of the Playhouse Dental Team! She looks forward to greeting each of you at the front door and helping with your needs.
Stacey has lived in Anacortes for over 30 years and raised her two boys here. She loves Anacortes and is passionate about enjoying all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Her many years as a parent, nanny, and Assistant Director of a preschool give her great insight in
When not behind the Playhouse Dental front desk, you will find Stacey out in beautiful forests with her truffle dogs.
As our incredible restorative hygienist, Kate is a pro at making sure our patients are calm, cool, and happy when they’re in one of our chairs. She grew up in Anacortes, and began her dental career in 2000 as a dental assistant at Playhouse. She went on to complete her RDH degree in Dental Hygiene from Lake Washington Tech. Her attention to detail and commitment to excellence help us achieve great results… every time!
Kate loves spending time with her family, along with running, hiking and biking, cooking, crafts and watching LOTS of sports, especially those with her kids, their friends, and our patients!
Shantel is a Playhouse EFDA certified Dental Assistant and has been with us since 2003. You’ll find her assisting with, and often finishing up, fillings – all while adding a dose of humor to help our patients feel more at ease.
Shantel says that joking around with her kids “Makes my Day!” and she loves it when patients bring her a new joke. She also enjoys co-ed softball, fishing, camping, reading, and loves dancing in her kitchen.
Susan has been a Playhouse team member since 2006. Originally certified as a dental assistant in California, she has honed those skills into a fine craft. Being able to interact with the kids and their families, educate them on good oral hygiene, and teach important life-long skills are high on Susan’s list of why she loves her job.
When not at work, you’ll find Susan hanging out with her friends and family, rooting for the Seattle Sounders and Seahawks, and cooking or working in the garden.
This Oak Harbor native and young mother says, “Our kids are a joy to work with! They’re so fun to be around and I enjoy being able to teach them about healthy habits for healthy teeth.” Keoni has been with Playhouse Dental since 2009, first as a sterilizer and now as a dental assistant. She is also in charge of ordering every little thing we use, which has made her life more interesting with our second office in Anacortes.
Keoni has a passion for pottery and music, loves spending time at the beach, and being entertained by her 3 comical pugs.
Michelle was born and raised in the Skagit Valley. She always loved going to the dentist as a child. Her first job was as a barista and she was recruited from there to become a dental assistant in a pediatric dental practice. After 14 years with one practice, she is pleased to have found a new dental home with Playhouse Dental. She loves helping kids understand what is going on during their appointment and involving them in the process.
When not at work, you can find Michelle cooking up a storm for her husband and their two sons, relaxing on their fishing boat or being a party planner extraordinaire! She also has a soft spot for cats, whether they are hers or yours!
Karina is from a loving family where she is the 3rd of four children, with LOTS of extended family in the area. This may be where she learned to joke around with kids, and help transform their fears of the dentist into a fun and successful experience. This is Karina’s second job working with children, and she is thrilled to be part our clinical team as a dental assistant.
In the evenings you may find Karina laughing and dancing the night away in local hot spots. Otherwise her off-work hours are filled with shopping, hanging with family, playing on the beach or traveling.
Yesica comes from a large family that she describes as a “cast of characters” that LOVE to LAUGH! Clearly, she fits right in with the team at Playhouse Dental!
Equally at home in both Spanish and English, Yesica considers it an honor and privilege to help transform a typical dental visit into a great and memorable experience. She originally became a dental assistant after biting a “mean one” and deciding that she could do it better than that!
After her workday, Yesica loves to swim in Samish Lake, and frolic with her Siberian husky, Cocanee. This teddy bear of a dog is sweet, clumsy and goofy and makes her “person” smile every moment they are together.
Janet is a dental assistant, born and raised in Washington. As the oldest of three siblings, she may be tiny but she knows how to get little ones to cooperate.
Janet loves the fact that each child is unique in his/her own way, and she works hard to ensure that they leave with a smile.
In her off time, Janet likes to go hiking and kayaking. Spending time with family and friends is also high on her list… especially when they lead to midnight (or sunrise) adventures!
Megan comes to us from the “far side”… she is blessed to have spent her entire life in Rockport, which is QUITE the commute!
You will find Megan in clinic, curious about everything the children share with her. She has a gift for bonding with them as she teaches them how to get and keep a healthy smile. If you hear laughter in clinic, you will often find Megan at the heart of the merrymaking.
In her “down-time”, Megan LOVES spending time with her family, and can often be found camping and kayaking. She thoroughly enjoys creating memories and traditions that will stand the test of time.
You will find Chelsea making sure that every instrument and surface is sparkling clean and organized! She finds great joy in expressing herself with CRAZY COLORED HAIR!
The Navy has taken her family around the country from California to Florida, Massachusetts, and Washington. The travel bug bit her and spirited her all the way to Maine for several years, but she is now back in Washington and settling in to pursue her passion of working with children.
When Chelsea isn’t at work, you might find her reading (her favorite is the Harry Potter series); you might also find her working on sets/costumes for the next HAUNTED HOUSE!
Can you say “home town girl”? Natalie is 2nd generation born-and-raised in Anacortes. She is from a family of 6 kids, which is the foundation of her perspective on children: Kids are goofy and imaginative. They have a great way of putting a smile on your face and making one feel good about “work as a way to give back to the community.”
Outside of work, Natalie spend lots of time with her extended family, often taking photos and enjoying all that that Pacific NW has to offer outdoors (camping, hiking, kayaking, etc.)
Frances is the quiet one in clinic with an ever-changing hairstyle! She was born on Orcas, and moved to LaConner in 2007. Frances enjoys the honesty and sweetness of children, and finds that they often make her laugh. She likes working with families to figure out how they can take better care of their children’s teeth.
In her off-work time, Frances may be found both indoors, with a book, video game or making art… or outdoors with one of her pets: a bunny (Cornelius), a guinea pig (Zeeza), her dog (Ne-yo), or the bees left over from her senior project!
Taryn grew up in a small desert town in California with four sisters. She fits right in with our large team, as she embraces every interaction as an opportunity for friendship and laughter.
As a mother of 3 little ones, Taryn finds that children often teach us a great deal with their innocence and energy. They show us how to embrace what life hands us. You can often find Taryn and her kids hiking, playing at the beach, riding bikes or just running around. We count ourselves blessed to have her caring energy among us in the clinic.
Kelsey is a dental assistant who loves working with kids, because “Every day is something new!” She admires the creativity, honesty and resilience of children, and finds working with their families rewarding. Born and raised in Anacortes with two younger brothers and two sons, she “gets” the energy of boys, and revels in the differences found in their sisters.
In her down time, Kelsey is often at the beach with her boys, or camping and boating around the San Juan Islands with her family.
Erika loves working with children at Playhouse Dental! Kids bring out the best in her (as well as her inner child.) She loves that she gets to be playful and funny while also educating them about how to have healthier smiles. She plans to pursue her education in the dental field while finding joy in the daily work.
Erika was born and raised in California as the oldest of three siblings. This is only the TIP of the iceberg in her “really big family who love to get together a lot.” Since she and her husband recently moved to Oak Harbor, they have filled up their ‘empty spaces’ with two pet turtles name Raphael and Donatello, and 5 fish. When not at work, they can be found hiking, dancing, watching new movies, and visiting new places.
You will find Melissa smiling at the front desk, whether you might be “checking in or checking out” with your child(ren). She soaks up the energy and good vibes of the children that grace our practice. She comes to us after working for a Montessori school in Florida, and counts herself blessed to be raising her two children with her husband in his home-town of Anacortes.
When not at work, Melissa loves to play sports with her children, exercise, cook, and hit the beach with friends, families and neighbors (one of them works here and recommended her!)
Carrie returns to us after a 5 year hiatus. Born and raised in Oak Harbor and Mt. Vernon, she followed her heart to Montana, and now returns to her friends and family with the “man of her dreams” and the child of their hearts. Playhouse Dental welcomes Carrie back with her unbelievably big smile (and laugh) and her ability to remember people and details that we STILL talk about!
The joy at work ALWAYS derives from the kids! She loves their sweet innocence, their entertaining perspectives on most everything, and the rewards that come from educating them on the importance of oral health.
When not at work, you will find Carrie making memories with her toddler, exploring the aisles of Target, (she could be their spokesperson) or cuddling her ten year old cat, Otis.
